Rachel Flowers - Accredited Counsellor
My counselling journey start long before I became a therapist. Having had counselling in my teenage years and through adulthood.
I have found therapy to be a lifeline at times, when I have felt completely alone. I found I felt alone in relationships as well as during times of being single. The feeling of having many people around me, but that sinking feeling of just disconnect.
Having a therapist allowed me to express the deep feelings I felt ashamed to share with loved ones.
I found being able to explore my personal thoughts and feelings with a therapist allowed me to do this outside the therapy room. I learned about my own needs in relationships and how to cultivate boundaries. It enabled me to understand why I behave the way I do and what needs I am trying to meet from people around me. I could see patterns of behaviour and how this can be detrimental to communicating to partners.
Part of my journey has been to learn new skills and ways of being, I am now wanting to share my learning with others. Allowing a space to explore and for you to be heard and seen.
Qualifications
I have a BA Hons in Therapeutic Counselling. A Diploma in Supervision and a certificate in Couples Counselling.
I am an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). The NCS is regulated by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) which promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of patients, service users and the public by raising standards of regulation and voluntary registration of people working in health and care. The NCS is responsible for ensuring that its members continue to meet the high standards set by the PSA. As an Accredited Registrant I am bound by the Society’s Code of Ethics and Complaints Policy.
I hold an advanced DBS and professional insurance.
